"The problem is with inexpensive twin tube shocks, they have an air pocket whether they gas charged or just oil. The compression valve is usually located seperatley at the bottom of the shock bathed in oil. If the shock is run upsidedown, the air pocket will be around the compression valve and render it useless because little or no oil will go through it."

"Most modern shock absorbers utilize a twin (dual) tube construction; in order to work properly the inner of the two tubes (working chamber) should stay completely filled with oil. The outer (reserve) tube contains an oil reserve along with air or a pressurized gas. If the unit is mounted inverted (rod side down), the air or gas in the outer chamber can enter the inner working chamber, resulting in poor damping performance. Therefore, twin tube shock absorbers should not be mounted upside down (or on their side), with the exception of specially designed units that incorporate a gas cell, or cellular gas material, designed to keep the gas retained in the outer reserve tube."

Die site zegt dus dat je een twin tube niet kan omdraaien, omdat dan de bodemklep niet meer in de olie zit; dat geldt dan weer niet voor schokdempers met gascellen.

Bij jou staat er het woord "GAS" op, daar zit dan het 'zakje' gas in, om alles gescheiden en op zijn plaats te houden.

Een beetje onduidelijk wel...ik concludeer hieruit dat als je een twin tube omgekeerd gebruikt hij speciaal ontworpen moet zijn hiervoor qua afdichting, maar een monotube kan altijd omgekeerd gebruikt worden.

Als je hem upside down monteert, maak je het wiel lichter (onafgeveerd gewicht lager). Aan de andere kant kan je daar ook te ver in gaan voor een voorvork (wegcontact houden). Achteraan, voor gebruik in een bromfiets, gaat geen enkele van de twee redeneringen echt veel belang hebben.
